We stayed in a courtyard double room for 2 nights. The room is situated in a block of several others on 3 sides. The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean and tidy. The double bed was very comfortable. There was a fridge and microwave and hangers rather than a wardrobe for hanging items. Ideal for short stays. The hotel is a mid Victorian building, which in its day would have been very grand and its history is interesting, Due to the time of year there was minimal staff, though all were very friendly and helpful . Pub type evening meals on offer and a substantial breakfast was included in the price. The hotel is positioned in a largely wooded area, though has a wonderful garden to the front overlooking a lake/river + we loved walking our dogs between the avenue of huge trees leading to the gates of the hotel. Additionally the adjacent surround is managed by the forestry commission. There is a lovely walk around a small lake near to the hotel and a very large lake within a short walking distance with a conservation lake adjoining. An ideal place to stay for a special occasion, for walkers or just for some peace and quiet. While here and though they still take bookings, we learned that the hotel is up for sale - so very sad as we so enjoyed our visit. ||Norwich and KingsLynn can be reached easily from here. Nearest train station is Thetford (20 approx min drive). Would definately recommend

Having stayed here for business on a number of occasions now, I still arrive and see something interesting I hadn’t noticed before. Beautiful grounds, great food and helpful staff make it a dependable choice. I last stayed in the Allo Allo suite (the history of which is displayed on the wall) and the room was quiet and clean.

This Place has immense character! The architecture was absolutely stunning. The rooms were clean the staff was great. The grounds were beautiful and there were lots of trails and ponds and wildlife to see. The dining was so good we ended up eating and drinking there for our entire stay instead of venturing out. Definitely recommend!

Lynford Hall is a huge rambling hotel set in lovely parkland. If it's peace and quiet you want, you'll find it here. The rooms are large and comfortable and the place has an element of grandeur with splendid architecture, rambling courtyards and high ceilings everywhere. But it's also rather tired and slightly disfunctional. My shower didn't work and there was no plug in my washbasin. On changing rooms, the radiator wouldn't turn off and belted out full heat all night. It couldn't be fixed it so I just had to sleep with the window open. The rooms are never made up unless you ask them. Communications are hopeless. Wifi in the rooms is incredibly slow and unstable. It took nearly five hours to upload a 250mb file! I got no phone signal indoors and had to go into the grounds to make calls. On the plus side I found the staff friendly and helpful. The food is good, though the menu is limited. The whole place rather lacks atmosphere and has clearly seen better days. Not a bad place to stay though, as long as your expectations are not too high.

Shower in room took forever to work, rang reception twice, just told 'everyone has trouble with that shower, just keep trying'. No TV remote, reception said 'should be one, nothing they can do about it now' Food was luke warm and the only veg was three rock hard sprouts and half a carrot. Had our meal, was then told we had to go back outside (luckily it wasn't raining) and queue outside in the freezing cold, to get into the ballroom, when there was clearly a set of double doors through from the dining room/bar into the dance and stage area. However staff in general were very nice, venue is beautiful, band was amazing.

My partner and I have just been for Christmas lunch. The setting and decor was welcoming and ambient. From arrival the staff were friendly and efficient. The lunch was wonderful, portion size was generous and everything tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. I had the vegetarian option which was so tasty and my partner had the lamb which he said was succulent and tasty. I’d like to give a special mention to Chloé who managed to fit us in at short notice and was there to welcome us and was very warm and friendly as were all the lovely staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and wish everyone all the best in the future. We will definitely be back when you open again.
