Vision Mill Architects assisted us with obtaining Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for changes made to Poplar Farm, a Grade II Listed property in Woodmancote. Poplar Farm is a detached farmhouse, which had obtained Planning Approval and Listed Building Consent as part of a larger redevelopment of the former farm. However, on purchasing the property, the layout did not suit our needs and we asked Vision Mill Architects to alter the layout accordingly. Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent was obtained for these changes. Vision Mill Architects also assisted with the discharge of Planning and Listed Building Conditions and preparing Production Information for the project. This involved coordinating the drawings with the Structural Engineer to provide a full set of information to the contractor. In addition, Vision Mill Architects assisted Evolution Evolving in the preparation of a number of bids for Lypiatt House, a Grade II Listed building in Cheltenham and a vacant site on Shurdington Road in Shurdington.

Reference: Stroud Wayfarers Housing, West End Flats

Stroud Wayfarers Housing is a community benefit society which aims to provide affordable accommodation, mostly through granting shared ownership leases to the occupants. Vision Mill Architects assisted us with obtaining Planning Permission for the development of a small block of five flats on land adjacent to the Christian Community Church on Cainscross Road in Stroud. This involved preparing several design options for approval by the end users before submitting a pre-application to Stroud District Council, following which the size of the development was scaled back from six flats to five. Ultimately, planning permission was obtained for a scheme of two two-bed flats and three one-bed flats, one located in an attic storey. Once approved, the scheme required further revision and the submission of a variation to Stroud District Council. The team at Vision Mill Architects produced clear and concise information, handled the design and planning process thoroughly and stuck to the task with great determination. We were particularly impressed with their design ideas, their communication skills as well as their management of the design team. Vision Mill Architects also prepared building regulations and production information drawings, assisted with the tender negotiations and undertook the contract administration on site. In all aspects of the project, they acted professionally and diligently. The occupiers of the flats are all thrilled at the results, which has transformed their lives.

Vision Mill Architects assisted us with obtaining Planning Permission for the redevelopment of a bungalow in Edge Lane, Edge by adding an additional storey to the building. This project was in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and required sensitive interventions to persuade the planners. This was successfully achieved and transformed the 1970’s bungalow into a beautiful modern Cotswold Home. Vision Mill Architects prepared design proposals for a living room extension to our house at Wyld Court in Blunsdon. Their design proposals included a flat roof with large overhangs and high level windows along the perimeter of the room and reused the existing boundary wall as a feature wall in the design. We were initially skeptical of the design, which was not at all in keeping with the architecture of the existing house. But thank heavens we stuck with the design! The result has been the most glorious, light filled, comfortable and inspiring space, which we just love. We constantly get positive comments from neighbours and visitors, who all love the design.
