We used David to provide a structural engineering report for an issue on a survey for our house sale. From the moment I contacted him to the final report the service provided was excellent. We found him very professional and knowledgeable and put our minds at ease with his verbal report. He provided a speedy service with the written report in a few days which we really appreciate. I contacted David for help with some structural calculations for a project I wanted to undertake in my recently purchased house in Bridport. We used Design & Maintain for a 2-storey extension to our house. David provided structural engineering diagrams and calculations, which we used while building and also submitted to building control. He is fast and efficient with a pragmatic approach and we were pleased with the result. He has helped with follow-up queries (I'm pretty sure there are always a few of these) and we're grateful for that. If we were doing it all again, I'd 100% use him a second time.

Have commissioned David for a couple of projects now and I have been very impressed with the care can quality of work. His drawings and notes were very helpful and making it easier to ensure the work was completed to the appropriate specification. Some of his beautifully hand drawn and annotated details were much more valuable than the uninspiring cookie cutter CAD drawings that that I have seen elsewhere. This made for very smooth sailing with building control too. David clearly has a huge amount of experience and was able to make many useful suggestions to overcome challenges in our domestic vaulted ceiling project and was quick to assist with clarification where the reality of a renovation project threw some curve balls. It is no surprise he is very busy but plan early as he is worth the wait. I will used D&M again.

They provided a structural engineering survey with builders drawings, plus delivered above and beyond this with advice, guidance and continual support, including when our Builder needed advice on a matter not covered in the original survey. Thought i'd add a little update here in view of the owner's response, as he's right- to be clear, the star is for customer service- i can't speak to his engineering skills.
I called David for some initial advice on a home project. I'd hoped to get him to come and take a look- paid for of course- but we didn't get that far. David's website says "No job is too small" which sounds friendly & amenable to a homeowner enquiring after assistance. That wasn't the impression he gave over the phone though. As he says below, he asked our timeline, but wouldn't accept either of my answers: "as soon as possible" or "this year" and wanted a time in weeks, saying "its a normal question you should know the answer to", and he may be right, but i'm not in the industry, i'm a homeowner asking for advice. The call started and continued in this manner, with condescending remarks and gruff tone, so i thanked David for his time on the phone and left it there as he clearly didn't have time or patience for my enquiry. As he says, almost all his work comes from word of mouth, which is just as well really.
