I approached David Booth about a year and a half ago for advice and assistance to plan for my retirement, and to set up a personal pension for myself. He was and has been very personable, helpful and clear with his advice, letting me know about using my tax allowances that I hadn't realised were available to me. I got introduced to Columba as I wanted to maximise tax allowances, and consolidate a number of pensions (defined benefit and defined contribution) into one place. Improving rates of return on current investments was a 2nd consideration. Columba sure I made use of all available tax allowances. Created a savings plan with a much improved return compared to cash sat in the bank. Transferred existing ISAs, and improved return in year 1. Transferred in x2 defined benefit pension schemes, and x4 defined contribution schemes into one retirement planning account. Helped me keep track on the use of my Capital Gains Tax allowance. I’ve seen the outcome hoped for and more. Positive returns in year 1 after fees was more than I expected. Also, secured some great valuations for the defined benefits schemes by executing the transfers quickly.

David provided some excellent advice in relation to planning finances for the future. He took the time to understand my long-term goals and made suggestions for the steps I need to take now to achieve them.

In addition to supplying valuable pension advice, David also helped identify prospective life assurance providers. Once I had made a decision, he demonstrated great tenacity and perseverance with my unresponsive GP to ensure I had secured cover ahead of moving home and changed mortgage.
