Fantastic experience. My highlight of the year so far. Built a shelter to sleep in, knife/saw lesson (making tent pegs & a pot holder), made fire using a bow drill, prepped pigeon/rabbit/trout from scratch for our meals, made cordage out of nettle stems, went foraging, and learnt about water collecting/purification. All the instructors were great. Highly recommend.

This weekend we completed a level three wilderness instructors course with Ray and Back To Wilderness.

Ray was so professional, and safe and allowed each individual to learn in their own unique way all while having loads of fun, not even the cold weather could stop us!

Will definitely be booking up some more courses and sessions!

Ray, in collaberation with his staff Nathan & Matt, happily delivered one of their level 2 courses in an unfamiliar location, which posed some significant logistical challenges.

A lot of work was required to get this course over the line and all contact with the team was friendly and professional (even when extreme tiredness and cancelled ferries tested the patience of the crew!)

The course itself was excellent and moulded to the specific needs of the group and environmental constraints/oppurtunities.

I and my colleagues would recommend Back to Wilderness without hesitation and we are already excited to offer them back in the near future for more craic, learning and assessment.

Thanks Ray & co - We are gratful for the extensive efforts involved.

We had a corporate day with these guys last week and got to say it was the best team building event we've ever done.
Ray and Matt were extremely knowledgeable, very patient and encouraging.
We learnt new skills: making fire without matches or lighter, getting clean water and building a shelter, an understanding of our surroundings and most importantly, given it was a team building exercise, we had to work together to accomplish the tasks.
Brilliant day, highly recommended for a family activity as well as corporate.
Thanks guys, for a fantastic day.

Ray Chin and his friendly bearded team were absolutely fabulous in instructing and educating thirty of my daughters friends (12 year old boys and girls) . The whole morning was engaging and educational... and above all incredibly enjoyable for all. They filtered moss for water, made shelters (out of foraged materials) and created fire from friction. Fabulous survival skills to have and amazing to see so much fun being had without a device in sight. I'd thoroughly recommend Back to Wilderness (and I quite fancy a night in one of those shelters - although perhaps not a glass of the filtered moss water)

Ray is literally a Ray of sunshine. He made the course as enjoyable as it was, he was so supportive, knowledgable and genuinely had a care and passion for it. I wouldn’t hesitate to do another course with Ray!! I learned so much, more than just throwing axes, he thought us the safety and mechanism of throwing to us so so well, honestly it was a an ace couple of days.

Can not recommend this man enough . Such a cool guy with a vast amount of knowledge. He has a way with teaching I have never experienced before which made it all feel very comfortable ?.

I'll definitely be booking some of his other courses soon !!!

For context Ray hosted us for an axe and knife throwing instructor course for myself and my business partner.
Upon sharing stories over the camp fire we have decided that we are also wanting to experienced his bushcraft and survival courses this year to bolster our knowledge ?
