The Mental Health First Aider course led by Belinda this week was fantastic. My reason for wanting to attend the course was to be better equipped to deal with mental health in the workplace, which I am seeing is increasing, but it will also be extremely helpful to me in my personal life. Dear Belinda

I would like to thank you for your enthusiasm and personal kindness during the Mental Health First Aid Course at Heywood House.

I signed up to this course in the hope that it would provide practical help for having future conversations on the difficult subject of mental health with my teenage daughters. Having already experienced this with my eldest daughter I had felt inadequately prepared to help her, and with my youngest daughter also showing signs of mental health challenges I wanted to know how I could approach this in a kind and sensitive manner.

Throughout the course you covered the subject matter in great depth and at a comfortable pace that was easy to absorb. You also checked in regularly to ensure that everyone was comfortable with the subject matter, which as you were aware was difficult in places for me.

My executive summary is: Mission accomplished!

With a combination of notes and online tools I feel confident and fully equipped to help my daughters with any future mental health challenges they may have, and I know you are on hand if further advice is needed!

For anyone that wants an insight into how they can help support work colleagues, friends or family members with any kind of mental health challenges I cannot recommend this course highly enough.
