Outstanding. Carried out a 'structural only' survey on a 200 year old property I was looking to aquire, which I believe is a bespoke service only they offer. I recieved a useful, accurate and thorough appraisal with a short turnaround. The bloke left no stone unturned, and the assesment really struck the balance between items requiring attenton, and what my expectations should be with a house of that age.

Andrew was excellent from the outset, he was very thorough is all his work and he was timely and efficient. I would not hesitate at all to use him again and anyone looking for a full survey that you can trust, please absolutly use him. Andrew helped me get the house passed for a mortgage after the house I was buying had foam insulation in the loft, a big no no for mortgage companies. He did a pre- examination report, and I got the work done and he did a re-visit and signed off the work. I now have my mortgage approved. The reports were very detailed with clear and relevant photos and including plans on improving the property with potential arrears of concern in the future. Very satisfied. Adam- Darlington

Both Alan and Andrew assisted with our survey, the property was one that did need some work doing and we had budgeted for this. The survey has undoubtably saved us 10’s of thousands as work carried out on the structural side was inadequate by the previous owner which resulted in us not proceeding. FTB of new build property and was in the market for a NE/Darlington surveyor and found this firm via the RICS website. After checking reviews, called and spoke to Andrew H. Had good, long chat with him about my situation and requirements. Andrew was helpful, explained survey process, came across as knowledgable, passionate, and spoke from experience, recounting stories/previous survey experiences. Based on chat/advice, decided on a level 2 survey to "kick the tires" of a new build property (for peace of mind). Price was reasonable and Andrew quickly organised visit directly with builder and turned around the report quickly after the visit. Report was detailed, professional and contained plenty of hi-res photography to back up all survey commentary for each part of house, which I could then provide to builder to request minor/cosmetic rectifications.

Having used Cowie Consulting for 2 structural surveys on houses I was interested in I can't recommend them highly enough. Professional, efficient and effective from start to finish. This resulted in making well-informed decisions to pull out of the purchase of the first property I found that would have been a disaster for me and my family due to significant issues identified. Alan and Andrew have been first class, informative and supportive - providing expert advice helping me to secure a property that I love but that requires significant work that I would otherwise have been unaware of. The detailed survey and additional research provided helped with negotiating on my original offer so that I can finance most of the work rather than find myself in what would have been a very challenging situation.
