Dormen is an incredible resource that you'd be a fool not to make the most of, especially if you are 18-25 and/or a solo operator. I was mentored by Trevor for 6 years until I left the UK for sunnier pastures, and having a regular check-in with a outsider who possessed vast experience and expertise, not to mention local contacts was invaluable to tripling our turnover in a short time.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Dorset Business Mentors. My three fellow Directors and I have been working with our Dormen mentor Katie since 2009. Over that time she has worked at developing an extensive awareness of the industry we operate in, and to understand the problems we face. At our meetings the issues we discuss are wide ranging and vary in magnitude, and she is excellent at seeing immediately the areas that need deeper discussion. She adopts the correct spirit of mentoring, encouraging us to solve our own problems instead of giving her views and ideas – refusing to give us her opinion until we have adequately discussed it and formally realised our own plan. We trust her implicitly and she has become a part of our team – in fact we have come to some of our best decisions with her help in acting as an external observer giving us a non-biased perspective on issues that we are often heavily emotionally invested in. To me the overriding benefit of the Dormen ethos is that by building up such a relationship over a period of time you can draw on an “insider’s” view, but with the benefit of an “outsider’s” perception.
