Sue and Donatas from Ecclesall Design provided a fantastic service from start to finish. We loved Donatas' approach to providing outside the box thinking with multiple design ideas that we were guided to hone, and the quality of the work was always exceptional. It was however the after-sales service we experienced (which takes place mostly via liaison with Sue) which has been nothing short of incredible.

Our building plans became drawn out for several reasons which meant our submission for planning permission came 2.5 years after we'd had our ‘final’ drawings in hand. By this point we felt we were essentially to Sue and Donatas a fully paid up, historic customer. We were unaware of the 'back end' of the design process including submission to planning, liaison with building control and all the to and fro this involves.

The level of ongoing support we received from Sue during this aspect of the project was amazing. She was highly responsive to our many phone calls and emails and went out of her way to provide information to help support us dealing with questions from our neighbours. She was very pro-active and took a lead during all the liaison with the planning office, only involving us where we needed to be. She was in tune with where we were up to and also seems to be well connected, able to draw on professional networks around planning and building control to provide answers to difficult questions. On several occasions our supposed ‘final’ designs went back to Donatas for revisions and he did these really quickly for us, again to the same high standard.

Disclaimer: we don't have extensive experience with other architects. Nevertheless we’ve been around long enough to know that the after care service provided by Ecclesall Design felt far more than just a ‘run of the mill’ offering. This standard of professionalism, integrity and commitment to customer experience is something you don’t realise the importance of till it isn’t there. The way Ecclesall Design seem to run their company by placing such importance on this clearly speaks of the personal values of Sue and Donatas. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

We were recommended Eccleshall Design by friends who used them a year before. Our experience with Sue and Donatas has been excellent and they have been particularly understanding and flexible around unforeseen circumstances from our side (resulting in a delay of proceedings for over 18 months, for which they would have had every right to get a bit annoyed at us!).

We particularly valued the variety and thought that went into different proposed options (about 6 initial designs). As we went into the process of commissioning an architect we thought we knew what we wanted design-wise. On at least one of the other quotes we obtained it stated the offering was only for 1 design to be drawn. Had we gone down this route we would not have resulted in the design we eventually arrived at, which draws on different aspects of the initial options. We’re really happy with the end result.

My home is a period property in a conservation area, needing a particular approach to extend it whilst maintaining its character and feel, to achieve planning permission. Sue and Donatas at Ecclesall design have a good deal of experience and a personal approach which worked really well for me, as this is my first project.
They visited my home twice to get an initial feel of what was required, following this they presented a variety of options and helped me to choose. All revisions and queries were handled really promptly. As a first timer I needed a bit of help with the process of planning permission, building control and structural report. Sue was really helpful in talking me through this along with good advice on selecting the right builder. My build of this project isn't yet underway but I'm confident that Sue at Ecclesall design will keep things on track
