As you can see it looks fabulous from a distance, so why the distance Well it was a nice day, not very warm for the time of year, but nice enough to take a trip down the coast. Someone ( who will remain nameless, 🤦🏼but knows who she is ) asked if we could take the back road to Largs. 🌊🌅. Off we popped and I was just about to turn up at Fairlie Sawmills, and take the moor road into Largs ….. but there was road works and the road was closed. ‘Dismay’ 😲came from the passenger seat. I was assured there was a different road we could take further on. Yes, further down the road at the Esso Pier Garage we saw a post office van 🚗 drive up the side of the garage and thought, ‘that’s the other shortcut to Largs’ [ yes another five minutes and we would have probably been in Largs anyway, ] but being a nice man I turned up the road at the side of the garage. Needless to say it was a mistake ! The road was a ‘road’ to a few houses up there, however it turned from a nice tarmac road to a single track road, then on to a ‘less than’ single track road, then onto what I can only describe as a goat track, ‘🐐cause even horses 🐴 would have the sense NOT to go up there. Fortunately, having a 4x4 🛺 we made it through. We even came across people walking there who were very surprised to find an automobile in the middle of wherever that was !!!! Eventually we came out the other side onto the Haylie Brae…. but what an adventure 😳
