I used these guys for employment advice and was seeking very specific input for a key employee agreement. From the first call I felt overwhelmed by the exhaustive detailing of their services from their business development person – to the point where I asked him to put in an email what he thought they could provide, as he had not been at all concise on the call.

He seemed more intent on getting me to sign up to a monthly fee which provided me with ongoing advice at a reduced rate – not something I was looking for.

When I did end up speaking to an expert the approach had been decided in terms of what was to be provided, and I ended up with a document that I ultimately couldn't make use of. I fed back my concerns to the client manager at the firm but in response was provided with the cost involved in revising the document. Had they listened in the first place I wouldn't have needed to revise it.

My appraisal of Harper James is that they are interested more in what is right for them (ongoing income) than they are in understanding my organisation's needs. The 'salesy' way in which they conduct themselves is not appropriate in commercial law and makes them entirely tone-deaf in my view. I've taken the work elsewhere.
