Joseph Hodgdon of Joseph David Engineering was the original certifier for our home extension project. The drawings were produced for him by Paul Williamson of PWD Consultants.
Mr Hodgdon issued the relevant SER certificate in order to obtain a building warrant. It became clear to us that there were significant problems with the drawings and with information provided for certification and that our trust in PWD was clearly misplaced. These concerns were drawn to Mr Hodgdon's attention. He offered no assistance with our enquiries into the certification process and indeed we found him to be obstructive. Somewhat reluctantly I complained about the certification to the regulator (SER Ltd).
The regulator has found that Mr Hodgdon broke the Building Regulations in providing the certificate. He has admitted this and is obliged by SER Ltd to provide a statement to the effect that he will do his job properly from now on.
I could not in any sense recommend anyone to make use of his services.
