Lovely little community bar & brewery.

Very welcoming owner who is happy to pour you a pint of his excellent ales outside of Googles stated hours if he's around and it's past midday.

Lovely setting, great ale and lovely owner. Great to support this valued community asset too ?

My niece and I recently hiked the Hadrian’s Wall trail and stayed at the B&B. Everything was great. Spacious, comfortable and clean room. Plenty of breakfast choices and they provide a lovely dinner. Sometimes it is hard to find a B&B that does dinner. The village is attractive and you are only steps from the trail. Graham and his wife were very gracious hosts and the bar is an added attraction.. Highly recommend

If you need a place to stay near Walton, or are thirsty on a weekend evening, we highly recommend the Old Vicarage Brewery. Graham is an excellent host, welcoming us with a beer despite arriving much earlier than expected. Charlotte’s lasagna dinner was super and Graham kept the bar open and chatted with us for a couple of hours after dinner. The twin bed room is very spacious and well appointed. The view from the garden is worth the trip.

Utterly charming, exactly as advertised! We stayed here during our trek along Hadrian’s Wall. I injured my knee on the way, and due to poor planning on my part, I had not arranged for a taxi to deliver me to the Old Vicarage Inn. But Graham was exceedingly kind, and drove twenty five minutes out-and-back to deliver me safely to the Old Vicarage! He even drove me into Brampton again in the morning. I am so grateful to both him and Charlotte for their help, and for making us feel right at home. Five stars all the way!

My son and I stayed at The Old Vicarage for a night (28.04.2024) whilst walking Hadrian's Wall.
Somewhat embarrassingly we arrived far too early - but Charlotte was unphased and totally accommodating, and we were supping our first beer mid-afternoon.
The accommodation at The Old Vicarage is utterly charming - remarkably tranquil - we were the only guests in residence and basically had our own private micro-brewery and private dining experience.
The Coach House apartments are beautiful - spotlessly clean and outstandingly comfortable - and the Old Vicarage Brewery bar in the old Stables just charming.
Graham was extremely helpful with local history and knowledge - and an outstanding recommendation to divert off The Wall to Lanercost Priory the following morning which we otherwise would have missed.
Good honest, wholesome home-cooked food completed the experience beautifully.
A very definite 'must return' !

Showed up wet and muddy with 2 mates about a days hike from Carlisle.
2 of us shared the downstairs room.
No problem getting a good meal, A hot shower, and a good nights sleep.
One of the owners knows a ton of local history. For a geek like me that is a plus.
I am not a drinker but, my friends enjoyed the bar.
The owners also took our shoes and had them dry and ready in the morning for the next leg of our hike.

Amazing.

Turned up at nearly 8pm whilst walking Hadrian's Wall en route to our nearby bunkhouse.

We had nothing and nowhere to eat because the one shop we thought existed was closed and the only other place nearby had an event on and couldn't feed us.

The landlord and his family rustled us up pizza, chips and salad from their home.

Wonderful hospitality. And we of course had to try a couple of their own beers too, which were less than ⅔ of what the YHA charged us the night before.

Chatted to some very friendly locals in the bar too.

Stop by if you get the chance.

The most quiet room we had during our hiking trip. Their lasagne and beers were delicious. Absolutely recommendable.
