Awful. My Aunty died and the inheritance letter was sent. Went into the office on 31st Dec with all documents requested. One month later, nothing heard so I chase them. Days later, nothing heard so chase again. Finally answer back being they don’t have what they need, so it’s sent over (again). Confirmed they have everything they need from Rebecca.

Two weeks later… still nothing.

The company has been a mess from the start for the simplest of jobs. Facilitate money from one account to the next, taking a cut themselves (always happy to take money themselves). Awful, and would never use again.

My grandmother sadly passed away and Shacklocks have made the experience 10x harder then it needed to be. We where told between 10-15 months, nearly a year later and they have said another 12 months. They haven't got a clue what stage we are at, or what is meant to be happening. Anytime you try and speak with someone they pass you from pillar to post. Seems to be a money grabbing operation as they have just informed us that they haven't chased life insurance nearly a year later and it will now cost £500 each time they chase insurance despite us having a fixed fee agreement. A complaint has been sent to their head office. Avoid at all costs. Come on Shacklocks shouldn't be this difficult!!!!!!!

Used for a house purchase, they didn't add a section of my garden under a different land reg number so had to fight for over 4 years to get it put under my name, there excuse was that I should have noticed it was missing? So basically they wanted me to do there job. Would not use them ever again.

I highly recommend Ben Stubbins. He was my solicitor through a complicated divorce. Thanks to him I got through a very difficult and confusing time in my life. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was explained very clearly. Any time I needed help or something came up both during my divorce and after Ben has been there. I didn’t use this company to do my conveyancing however my buyers did and I think their patience must have been tested to the absolute limit as my buyer ended up fetching and carrying documents to be signed from Belper to beyond Mansfield , the day before we were all about to complete and exchange Shacklocks conveyancer mysteriously produced 18 unanswered queries that really should have been dealt with weeks prior but I assume were just forgotten about.

In my frustration I rang the lady at Shacklocks in Belper dealing with our buyer and apparently this wasn’t ethical and instead of politely explaining to me that they couldn’t deal with me directly she proceeded to be sharp, offensive and very rude to the point that my partner took the phone off me and had to tell her there was no need to be so rude.

I thought they were slow, rude and and I felt that the conveyancer was very stressed or doing a job beyond their capabilities or they just didn’t want to be there hence the reason I assume she was so snappy and sharp, I’m glad I wasn’t their client and expected to pay for service such as this.
