I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience with Shared Direction Conveyancing. I found the handling of my case incredibly frustrating from start to finish. Communication was poor, responses were vague or dismissive, and I was left chasing answers to very reasonable questions — particularly around timeframes for exchange and completion. This caused unnecessary stress when trying to coordinate removals and time off work.

What disappointed me most was the complete lack of empathy or accountability from my case handler, who often came across as rude and uninterested. Despite all parties in the chain working toward an agreed completion date, it was only thanks to the intervention of my mortgage broker and the estate agency that we managed to get there — not my own solicitor. I also felt misled over a £90 Fee Protection Scheme charge that I felt wasn’t clear enough was an opt-out.

As someone who works in a high-end client-facing role, I know what good service looks like — and unfortunately, this fell well below any acceptable standard, without a single apology for the stress caused. I hope this review encourages a rethink in how clients are treated going forward, and I hope it urges you to find an alternative company to spend your hard earned money with.

Would highly recommend, I used SDC for buying my new property and they really provided exceptional service (which is very rare now days)! Very responsive to every communication.
Unfortunately I had nightmare selling solicitors (nothing to do with SDC) but throughout the whole process I was wishing I could have used SDC for selling my previous property too, a lesson learned for me for next time.

Stephen Crow has been so amazing throughout our experience. I'm sure he had so many cases on his plate but he was always able to provide an update when I requested one. It got stressful towards the end but he was able to give very detailed explanations of what was happening and he worked tirelessly to get us where we needed to be. They may be doing a great job, or not. I don’t know because they give nothing other than the occasional automatically generated message. If you hit a bump in the road don’t expect to be told. Don’t expect them to chase information from other solicitors, or give you any information even if you contact by any method. Don’t expect the main office to be any more help than your solicitor. Personally, I’d say give some other solicitor a go.

Me and my husband are first time buyers, and had no idea where to start. Shared Direction were recommended to us by a colleague, and we cannot thank them enough. Initially we were skeptical about the lower price, as so often you find that price dictates service, but Shannon and Grace have been absolutely phenomenal throughout the process, from answering our questions, to asking them on our behalf. Communication was open and regular, and whenever we had a query it was responded to if not resolved within a few hours, which was very impressive. From quote to completion the process has taken around 6 weeks, which is incredible. Our first impressions were of a personable, motivated team, driven to help and advise throughout the entire process, which was immideately reassuring, and these impressions were lived up to - all deadlines given by the housing asscociation were met, all questions were answered thoroughly, with a solution, timeframe in which to expect the results, and often other updates or context to further reassure us. Additionally, the text message updates on the progress were an exciting little bonus.

I have just used SDC as a first time buyer. Honestly I was nervous about using an out of county solicitor and that their fee was much cheaper than the local firms I had spoken to but the initial phone call I had to discuss my quote was so lovely with all my questions answered clearly that I was out at ease. From quote to completion took 8 weeks and they were prompt, communicative, answered the phone and emails quickly and responsively even to my many many questions. Their fee on completion was conclusive with that set out in the quote as long as you read the small print about search fees etc. and I loved receiving text updates about my purchase. Katie in the wells office was particularly helpful.
