My meeting with a Sherpa Bear:

Before I started my coaching sessions with Rob I was looking for something that would help me move forward with my life.

I have the drive and the determination, I just couldn't see where I was going and the negative sabotaging thoughts do not help. I went to my first meeting not knowing what to expect also being asked where I would like to meet for our session was such a lovely thing, I could always go where I wanted to be and feel comfortable and free.

I was totally unprepared for how safe and open I felt when talking to Rob and how he holds the space around you and lets you be guided by how your emotions evolve within the session.

The positive impact on my family and relationship has been the biggest shift for me. I now make more time and enjoy that time with my family. I love my husband unconditionally but felt as though I was running along a different track to him but side by side. I now feel as though our tracks have crossed and we are now heading through our life together as one.

I found that coaching is a partnership where the goals, ideas, problems, solutions and ultimately the action comes from you however Rob’s careful questioning and challenging, combined with listening skills tease out the important issues and then together you form an action plan to go forward.

It has been an amazing journey throughout my sessions with Rob. I have now signed up for a University Course and long term, with the seeing and clarity that I have gained through my sessions I have the tools and the positive attitude to carry on with the changes I have put in place. I know that everything I am doing is because I want to do it and it is going to improve my life or my family's life in some way. All the old negative sabotaging beliefs are much quieter now and I am looking forward to the future.

Rob has coached me for a little over 7 months now. The results I have seen are superb. I have lost over 11kg’s, built muscle and become stronger and more flexible. The numbers are great, but that is not what makes Rob a fantastic coach. I understand exercise and nutrition in far greater detail now, I’m aware of how I need to fuel my body, and what to avoid. More importantly, Rob has equipped me with the skills, tools and knowledge to approach exercise and nutrition as a long term, sustainable process. I couldn’t ask for more from a coach.

Rob is an engaging story teller and he uses this skill to share ideas around the coaching journey, challenges and possible transformation. My journey with Rob started in September 2017 and he was recommended to me by my husband who had also been having personal training sessions. My husband had wanted to generally improve his fitness and wellbeing and after having such a positive experience, he thought it was something I could benefit from as well. I had gained approximately 3.5 stone over a period of 3 years since getting married and was starting to not like what I was seeing in the mirror and knew I needed to make some changes.

I was most definitely not someone who would have been described as a ‘gym bunny’ and I was not taking much notice of what I was eating. Suffice to say, entering the gym seemed like a rather daunting experience for me. From the very first time I met Rob, he put me at ease straight away and we discussed what my goals and ambitions were and the reasons why I had decided to undertake this journey. At first I just thought I wanted to lose a little weight and generally feel a little fitter, but I did not know how much simply having personal training sessions would change my outlook on health, fitness, food and to be honest, life in general.

Rob and I started by training 2 sessions a week and I was a complete novice, so I was learning all the movements for the first time. Rob was incredibly patient and extremely encouraging as a PT and this helped my confidence no end. As is always the case when on a long journey, I did have a few wobbles on the way and often found myself feeling a little anxious and nervous before a session. I remember spending one session just talking about how I was feeling and what I thought was working and things that we could change to help me reach my goals. Rob was incredibly patient and really helped me work through my worries and why I was feeling this way. Working with Rob became much more than just lifting weights and doing squats and deadlifts, it was also about changing my mind set and what other techniques I could employ to better my fitness and life in general. In short, I was able to exercise and improve both my body and my mind all in one!

If you are looking for someone who listens, adapts, encourages and uplifts you then you can honestly do no better than Rob Stewart, the Sherpa Bear. Since working with Rob I have lost 4 stone, completely changed the way I see food and how I eat and I have never felt better about myself or my body! I will forever be grateful for my husband pushing me to do this in the first place but more than anything, grateful that I was lucky enough to have someone like Rob to work with.

Life coaching is a bespoke coaching experience and journey. This is not therapy! It’s not tree hugging & it’s not a prescribed scripted course with a workbook. Think more of personal training for your mind and soul. The coach isn’t going to do it for you, but will guide you through a life changing experience. It is an organic process of discussion, reflection, powerful questions and self-searching to find who you want to be and how to begin the never-ending journey to get there using relevant challenges to help create the shift. Rob helps guide you along a meandering path and helps you accept that its ok. Analysing your inner voices and different characters and finding their strengths and weaknesses and how your inner team can carry you to be who you want to be. I had been through counselling and CBT courses prior to this, and although they helped identify why I wasn’t happy and gave me structure and coping mechanisms, they didn’t help me change, grow or be happy being me. Every session with Rob was a joy, even looking at difficult bits of me. Completely safe and non-judgemental environment. Meeting and talking in the fresh air was also a great element, helping to connect with nature and improve mindfulness. Am totally indebted to Rob for the coaching which is definitely for life.
