We got married at The Great House in December 2024 and the day was PERFECT! This beautiful hotel provided us with the perfect backdrop to our special day and accommodated all of our needs for our Winter wedding. The one function suite provided us with the ceremony room, then with a quick change was our dining hall for our wedding breakfast and then quickly turned around again for the evening party. The room is so classic and stylish, we didn't feel the need to decorate it, other than providing a few lanterns/candles for the tables. No flowers or greenery (which saved us a small fortune), although we were lucky enough to have a Christmas tree and garlands in the room, provided by the venue.||Our planning stages were managed with enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the years planning and nothing felt too much trouble. We always received quick responses to any queries and the events team who managed the day and evening were also amazing. Again, nothing felt like too much trouble.||I stayed at the hotel for two nights and this was also a delight. The room was very well equipped with everything you need (kettle, iron, toiletries, robes etc), including lovely little touches like a full size fridge, fresh milk, complimentary water etc . Our room even had an old record player, which we really enjoyed playing. We felt really well looked after and the evening in the Coppa Club the night before the wedding was also really lovely too. Breakfast, which can be included with the room bookings, was also a highlight for us and everyone who stayed for the wedding.||Special mention to Charlie in the wedding team, who helped plan the day and then to Claire in the events team, who managed the day for us. It really was the most special day and I cannot thank you enough (especially Claire, who looked after my very nervous husband on the day and I will be forever grateful).

Very smart, comfortable and relaxing establishment. 2 night accommodation booked. Staff very friendly and welcoming. ||Spoiled by woefully overpriced breakfast (and I think you guys know it!) notwithstanding good presentation. ||Re: Servicing of room. Toothpaste disappearance after night 1 + need for a few more toilet rolls! Weird but quickly rectified.

Spent a couple of nights here to see the Christmas show at the Mill at Sonning ||Knew the hotel before it changed hands and expanded ||We stayed in a river room which I think is Key to get the specialness from the property; the river is gorgeous ||I am not sure if the coppa club is a separate franchise or the same company as the hotel but this does all the food . The breakfasts were very nice ; the evening meals are a bit frantic as it's a very large high volume restaurant dealing with mostly external customers. It wins because it is so convenient and on site and the staff are very numerous and friendly. You have to book every breakfast and dinner you want in advance ||The hotel reception was very friendly and helpful.||I thought there was a slight imbalance between the upmarket feel of the few river rooms they have with the ambiance of the coppa club and the majority if the hotel which is in a new build behind the car park at the back ||The rebuild means they lost the old characterful bar which used to be at the roadside end of the old property. The renovated river room had a great feel and a massive bathroom||Overall we had a good stay

Highly recommended. Room clean and welcoming. Excellent showers. Staff very friendly. Great food. Recommend to book if you require a table. Came solo this time, no hesitation in coming again with my wife. A prize location

Lovely atmosphere and beautiful setting right by the River Thames. Very brief stay - arrived late and had to leave early, but found The House a nicely traditional English hotel. My room was small, but we'll laid-out and thoughtfully equipped, with water bottles in the fridge, along with a mini-bottle of fresh milk for the teas & coffees - nice touch! 👍

Lovely situation on the bank of the Thames and a lovely dog-friendly hotel with excellent welcoming and helpful staff and quality food which made it pointless to think of eating anywhere else! Dining in the garden igloo was magical. The only negative was the temperature of our room - uncomfortably warm despite the heating being turned off - and for no obvious reason since the weather outside was just typical of early September.

Attended for a wedding. Room was lovely, if not a little smaller than we're used to. Food was great and stay efficient, friendly and helpful.

We booked the great house for an overnight stay whilst visiting the area, we could not have asked for more. The beds were comfy, stunning location, very helpful staff. The rooms were warm, no ac but despite this we still got a good night's sleep. ||Special mention to Sam on the desk who sorted our (minor) issue quickly and efficently with a smile, a real credit to the company. We would recommend this hotel and plan to return in the not so distant future.
