This has always been the first shop we visit upon arriving in Looe and often end up buying a little gift or souvenir. Can honestly say we will just walk on by from now after our experience today. My 8 year old son has a fascination for crystals and collects them. There was a small basket of crystals on the counter next to the till. My son wanted to have a little rummage through to see which one he wanted to buy. I wasn’t stood directly next to him at the time but the older lady behind the till bellowed at him in an horrible, aggressive manner to ‘keep his hands out’. My son looked mortified as he has never been spoken to like that by anyone let alone a stranger. I sarcastically told the lady he was simply just having a look. She half muttered something about how he can look but not touch but to be honest I can’t really remember what she said because I was so angry. My son also wanted to purchase a picture from the shop hanging by the entrance but I told him that there is no way we would be purchasing anything from this shop and left. I can see from other reviews that this is not the first time something like this has happened. He may only be 8 but at least my son knows how to speak nicely to others. Will never return.

Incredibly rude lady behind the till. Had a few things I had picked up to purchase, my friend at the time was looking at the jelly cat selection as I collect them, they picked up a few to purchase & the lady rudely said ‘don’t touch the jelly cat display can’t you see the sign’ - no need for such rudeness for something we were going to purchase, are we not allowed to look at what we’re buying? As my friend left the shop she was staring as though they had stolen stuff. I put my stuff back and said don’t worry they’ve not stolen anything - she said ‘ugh I never said they did’ and rolled her eyes Incredibly rude, avoid. Glad I never gave them my money.

This is a lovely gift shop with lots of quirky, unusual , good well made gifts. Unfortunately spoilt by customer service. On the day that we visited a Wednesday , it was a busy shop with clearly only one customer assistant. After waiting patiently in a queue to be served by the lady behind the counter, I asked to buy a clock which was hanging on the wall. Only to be told to wait until she has served all the customers waiting behind me. I said that I would return later.
After spending a pleasant day in Looe, we returned to the shop to purchase the clock. Again after waiting patiently in a queue to be served, the same lady said that I could have the clock if she could reach it, if she couldn't then that would be it. She got a step ladder and after placing it under the clock announced that she couldn't reach it even before trying. So rather than leaving without the clock I volunteered to climb the steps and get the clock myself. This was not a cheap clock so I would have expected a more considerate response.
We always go to this shop whenever visiting Looe, and always buy something. But after our last experience we will think twice before returning.

The Old Mill Gift Centre is one of the first gift shops from the coach car park by the boating ponds. Could be easy to miss walking into Looe as it's hidden on an odd angle. Just before the first amusements.
Small shop but packed in an good orderly manner. Full of funny, quirky and unusual gifts. Nice place to go when searching for that present for someone.
They have a lot of nice Christmas things too.

The lady who I see frequently in the shop is lovely. Great customer service. Very helpful. The shop itself is always tidy. The items are all unique, you can always find something for someone in this shop.

What a hidden treasure trove! This fabulous gift shop is ideally located on the beautiful river, it's exceptionally well stocked (some items a tad pricey for what they are), but I could have spent ages inside and managed to purchase some authentic Cornish gifts. Please don't hesitate to stop here!
